This Privacy Policy explains what information Cipher ("we", "us", "our") collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. It applies to the Cipher app and website at cipherapp.cc.

1. Information we collect

Information you give us: your name and birth date (used to generate readings), your email address (for your account), and anything you type into readings or chat.
Payment information: when you subscribe, payment is handled by Stripe. We do not see or store your full card details; Stripe processes them and shares limited information with us, such as your subscription status and the email on the account.
Usage information: basic technical data such as how many readings you've used, needed to enforce free limits and fair use, and standard information your browser sends (like device and general location derived from IP) to keep the Service secure and working.

2. How we use your information

To generate your personalized readings and chat responses.
To create and manage your account and subscription.
To enforce free-tier limits and fair-use allowances.
To operate, secure, and improve the Service.
To respond to you when you contact us.

3. AI processing

To generate readings and chat, the information you provide (such as your name, birth date, and messages) is sent to our AI provider, Anthropic, which processes it to produce a response. We send only what is needed to generate your content.

4. Service providers we share data with

We use a small number of trusted providers to run Cipher, and share only what each needs to do its job:

Stripe — payment processing and subscription management.
Supabase — secure database and account authentication.
Netlify — website and application hosting.
Anthropic — the AI that generates readings and chat.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers.

5. Data retention

We keep your account information for as long as your account is active. Reading history is stored to improve your experience and, for some features, is kept on your own device. You can ask us to delete your account and associated data at any time.

6. Your choices and rights

You can edit your profile information in the app at any time.
You can cancel your subscription through the customer portal.
You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data by contacting us. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or CCPA.

7. Children

Cipher is intended for adults (18+). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us and we will delete it.

8. Security

We use reasonable technical measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your data.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will revise the "Last updated" date above when we do, and communicate significant changes where reasonable.
